From Offbeat Magazine:
Friends and fans will celebrate the life Jamie Galloway when Jamie’s Big Ass Party returns to the Maple Leaf Bar for its fourth year on Sunday, February 28. The annual block party and crawfish boil will once again be a fundraiser for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic.
George Porter Jr., Papa Mali, Brint Anderson, the New Orleans Suspects, Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes with Camile Baudoin, Alvin Youngblood Hart’s Muscle Theory, Dave Jordan & the NIA, Aron’s 504-Ever Brass Band, Soul Brass Band and many more are set to perform at the gathering. The event will be MC’d by Derrick Freeman, and will feature crawfish from Jason Seither and Seither’s Seafood.
Galloway, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 41, was a beloved New Orleans chef and musician. His friend Dave Jordan, who he played alongside as part of the band Juice, has organized the annual block party to honor Galloway’s memory and raise money for an important cause.
“It’s very humbling to me that so many of New Orleans finest musicians do this year in, year out, to honor the memory of their friend, Jamie, as well as raise money for an organization that provides such a vital service to literally thousands of other musicians and artists that make up our unique culture,” says performer and event organizer Dave Jordan. “Everyone involved, the staff at the Maple Leaf and Seither’s Seafood, the volunteers and musicians, bring their A-game to this very unique thing. It has an old school Oak St. vibe and is just a wonderful time to see so many people that I don’t get to see too often anymore. It means the world to me.”
Crawfish drop at 3, 5 & 7pm. Music schedule TBA.
