Best known for being a founding member of Jazz/Funk band Naughty Professor, Noah Young is one of the most sought after Bassists in New Orleans.

Born in the rural state of Vermont in 1991, Young started learning the Bass Guitar at the age of 12. In 2010 at the age of 19, he moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue music more seriously. Between 2010 and 2015 Young studied jazz formally at both Loyola University and University of New Orleans.
In 2015, Noah Young graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies. While at UNO he was fortunate enough to study with many legends of the New Orleans Jazz scene including Brian Seeger, Steve Masakowski, Ed Peterson, and Victor Atkins. As well as his formal academic studies, he has studied on and off with New Orleans’ bass legend Chris Severin for the last 5 years, and considers him one of his biggest influences.

Outside of school Young has stayed busy composing, recording, and performing with Jazz/Funk band Naughty Professor. Formed in 2010, Naughty Professor have released 3 studio albums and have played over 400 shows in more than 35 states.
In his 6 + years of being active in the New Orleans music scene Noah Young has had the pleasure of performing/recording with many different acts including: Chali 2na, Ivan Neville, Eric Bloom, Mike Dillon, David Shaw, Sasha Masakowski, Nigel Hall, Russell Batiste, Dee-1, The Stooges Brass Band, Leroy Jones, and many more.

Although Naughty Professor tours rigorously and plays between 100-150 shows per year around the continental U.S., Young still maintains a busy schedule in New Orleans and consistently performs with Funk/Fusion band CoolNasty (every Wednesday night at the People’s Health New Orleans Jazz Market), and Neo-Soul singer Mykia Jovan (every Sunday at the Blue Nile.) 2015 saw Noah Young taking up the role of band leader for the first time when he started the Noah Young Band, a Funk/Jazz/Fusion project that showcases his own compositions. In 2016, he started Party/Funk band Raw Deal featuring members of Naughty Professor and Dexter Gilmore from Sexy Dex and the Fresh on lead vocals.
