Born and raised on Barracks Street in the Treme — the neighborhood that invented jazz — trombonist Corey Henry learned his craft not in a school band, but on the streets and stages of New Orleans, mentored by legends like Tuba Fats and Kermit Ruffins, and thrown into the fire at age 16 by his uncle, Treme Brass Band founder Benny Jones.
A Grammy winner and two-time Grammy nominee, Henry has played with some of the city's greatest — Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, Cyril Neville, and Galactic— and he brings all of that deep New Orleans DNA to every performance with the Treme Funktet.
