About The Event
Keyboardist, singer, and songwriter Ivan Neville is the son of Aaron Neville. Though he has performed often with the Neville Brothers, he established himself as a go-to studio and touring musician. He was a member of Bonnie Raitt's band between 1985-1987, and guested on other dates by a plethora of artists including the Rolling Stones, Don Henley, Paula Abdul, Robbie Robertson, Rufus, Delbert McClinton, and, of course, the Nevilles. He was also a member of Keith Richards' touring X-Pensive Winos outfit on the Talk Is Cheap tour.
If My Ancestors Could See Me NowIvan's own recording career began with 1988's If My Ancestors Could See Me Now, which scored him his first and only hit "Not Just Another Girl." In the '90s, Neville played a key role on the Stones' Voodoo Lounge set, and released Thanks, his second album, in 1995. At the end of the '90s, he briefly joined the Spin Doctors as a replacement for Chris Barron, who had lost his voice. In the early 21st century, Neville recorded two more solo albums: Saturday Morning Music in 2002 and Scrape in 2004.
Neville and his cousin, Ian Neville (son of Art Neville) formed the diverse jam band Dumpstaphunk in the early aughts. The group's first album was a live date from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Their studio debut was a 2007 EP entitled Listen Hear, followed by three more live offerings. Their studio full-length, Everybody Wants Sum, appeared in 2011, followed by a live recording in 2012. Their second studio album, Dirty Word, was released in 2013, followed by two more live albums that same year.
