About The Event
Three legends. One room. No ceiling.
When Johnny Vidacovich settles behind the kit, time itself seems to breathe differently — his New Orleans second line sensibility filtered through decades of bebop, funk, and pure Crescent City intuition. Pair that with George Porter Jr., the Meters' immortal bassist whose pocket is so deep it has its own zip code, and you've already got a rhythm section that could move a mountain. Then add Luther Dickinson — the North Mississippi hill country guitar shaman whose slide work channels everything from the Delta to the cosmos — and you have something that defies easy description.
This is the kind of night that only happens in New Orleans, and only during Jazz Fest, when the city's gravitational pull draws together musicians of this caliber for something unrepeatable and entirely unplanned. Expect grooves that simmer, grooves that erupt, and long, winding excursions into the spaces…
