About The Event
The Rumble ft. Big Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. — Live at the Maple Leaf
On Mardi Gras morning, before you ever see the Black Masking Indians rounding the corner in their spectacular beadwork, you hear them first — that driving, irresistible backline known as the rumble. Tonight, that sound takes the Maple Leaf stage.
Fronted by Big Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. of the Young Eagles, The Rumble is New Orleans music past, present, and future — all at once. Their seven-piece lineup weaves together funk, brass band, gospel, hip-hop, jazz, and classical into something that feels both ancient and entirely alive. Tight harmonies, virtuosic arrangements, and the call-and-response chanting of Mardi Gras Indian tradition collide with the kind of propulsive groove that only this city can produce.
Think The Meters, the Wild Magnolias, the Neville Brothers — and then think forward.
This very room is where it all started. Live…
