About The Event

Renowned New Orleans drummer Earl Gordon and Fess devotee Tom Worrell are leading a powerhouse ensemble to pay tribute the music of the immortal New Orleans piano wizard Professor Longhair featuring veterans of his touring band. Originally this line-up was assembled by Orleans Records owner Carlo Ditta to perform at the record release party for Professor Longhair – Live in Chicago 1976 held at the Little Gem Saloon earlier this year.

This line-up boasts legendary Billy Gregory on guitar and Gordon who both backed up Longhair in the 70’s and appear on the recently released Professor Longhair – Live in Chicago 1976. Joining them is bassist Bobby Joe Harvey (Irma Thomas) whose father Will also performed with the Professor in Chicago, Fess & James Booker devotee Tom Worrell on keys and vocals, sax player Johnny Pennino (Skip Easterling, Freddy Fender) and soulful belter Diane Lotney (Dr. John). Ditta will be appearing with them as vocalist & guitarist on select numbers.
