About The Event
NOLA Very Good Tuesdays is a weekly improvised music series at the Maple Leaf Bar that brings the spirit of Alex Wasily's popular Very Good Mondays series from Los Angeles to New Orleans every Tuesday night. Co-presented by Alex Wasily (Dumpstaphunk trombonist) and Ari Teitel (guitarist), the series showcases some of New Orleans' top musicians in spontaneous collaborative performances.
The show operates under the signature "no covers" rule—musicians can only perform original compositions or pure improvisation, creating unique musical moments that can never be replicated.
The series embodies what Wasily describes as an "egoless, freeform, camaraderie-focused superjam", where the focus is on community, musicianship, and the pure joy of creating music in the moment. It's a musician's hang that welcomes audiences into an evening of genuine improvised funk and soul grooves in the intimate setting of the legendary Maple Leaf Bar.
