About The Event

https://neworleansmusiciansclinic.org

Founded by a coalition of music advocates on May 1, 1998, the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic (NOMC) became the 1st comprehensive medical clinic for musicians, performing artists and cultural workers in the United States.

The New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic has provided medical care to musicians and performing artists in New Orleans for more than 20 years. We offer occupational and comprehensive health services for musicians, artists, performers, cultural workers, tradition bearers of New Orleans (Mardi Gras Indians, Social Aid & Pleasure Club Members), service industry workers and more. We serve any patient over the age of 19 and their family, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. The NOMC also accepts private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

For more information on the origins and history of the NOMC, visit the History of the NOMC page.

How It Works

The NOMC is a clinic within the LSU Healthcare Network. Our patients see a family nurse practitioner for primary health care that can refer patients to more than 16 specialty departments within the LSUHCN and many additional outside healthcare providers and partners. Collaborative health partners include Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans, and St. Anna’s Mission to Musicians and Medical Mission, NAMI New Orleans, and New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center (in addition to many others).

The NOMC accepts walk-ins and same day appointments. We are located inside the LSU Healthcare Network building at 3700 St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans.

The building is conveniently located on the St Charles streetcar line. Free transportation to appointments as well as free parking on-site are available to NOMC patients.

Why the Musicians’ Clinic ?

We understand that musicians and performers have health care needs that are both the same and unique as others. We also know that insurance and healthcare can be intimidating for a lot of people.

Our culturally-sensitive approach works within our community network to ensure you have the care you need – whether you’re managing a chronic disease, not feeling well, or just want to speak to a medical professional who understands.
