The Soul Project Rejuvenated!
“The Soul Project NOLA has been a staple of the New Orleans music scene for over 20 years during which bandleader, guitarist and vocalist Jon Cristian Duque, protege of the late great Walter “Wolfman” Washington, has led the band through many changes. Amidst the pandemic of 2020, Cristian teamed up with drummer Wayne Maureau — a 15-year member of the Wolfman’s Roadmasters and a 30-year veteran of the local music scene — seeing the opportunity to revamp the band and take it to a new level. Together with Grammy Award winning bassist and vocalist Wanda Joseph, a new era of Soul Project was born.
This core rhythm section of Duque, Maureau and Joseph is a tight and funky unit that provides the infectious grooves and precision arrangements for which the band is known. Augmented by some of the best musicians in the city, Mikey “B3”…
