About The Event
Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes
New Orleans knows how to celebrate, and there's no better way to spend a night on Oak Street than with the city's own genre-defying, face-melting kings of the Maple Leaf — Johnny Sketch & The Dirty Notes.
Born from a college dare at Loyola University, where they won the Battle of the Bands in 2001 and then just never stopped, JSDN have spent over two decades earning their place as one of New Orleans' most beloved live acts. Classically and jazzically trained musicians who somehow create music that is both analytically interesting and absolutely, undeniably danceable.
Don't try to put them in a box. JSDN's irreverent funk is cut with rock riffs, a Gypsy/Klezmer flare, a Latin tinge courtesy of a hard-hitting horn section, and a generous sense of humor. Rolling Stone once described them as what you'd get if Phish had been born…
